A brief outline of the story

The Black NightShades; the darkest band around. Led by the luscious Damien. Tall and lean with lily-white skin and piercing blue eyes. Clad in lace and black leather and positively dripping with ghoulishness. He drives the girls wild with his on-stage antics and shocking and rocking stage show. The shelves of his tastefully-decorated mansion are full of ancient tomes on the occult, spell-working and all things macabre.

Taking their Crimson Delight tour to the wilds of Transylvania, the band inadvertently awake the sleeping Otto - who has been in a deep slumber for over 200 years. Having spent time in England in the late 1700s, Otto is very much a dandy, with his frock coats, frilled shirts and fine cravats. His clothes and cultured ways instantly make him stand out in the new, liberated culture of modern-day England that he soon finds himself in.

In the north of England, Otto stumbles upon the punkish Sam in a city pub. Back at her seedy squat she introduces him to the music of the Goth bands of today, whilst playfully trying to tempt him with earthly delights. She soon falls victim to his vampiric advances ... Closely followed by her housemate, Stella.

Travelling to London, the trio descend upon the home of Sam’s old pals, Kariss & Bran. After giving Otto a chillingly-accurate tarot reading, the pair of NightShades obssessives are also converted.

Kariss’ brother Stygg is the next on the list. As a trusted barman and odd jobber at the SunDown Club, his knowledge of the underground venue makes it easy for quick and efficient removal of he old management. And soon, the grimmest Club around is all theirs for a safe daytime refuge, while the members of the newly-converted Black Chalice Club provide an easy and reliable food source for the fast-growing clan.

The vindictive Ashley is soon converted. Her deep hatred of those who have shunned her in her mortal life, fuels her taste for revenge. But before long, her indiscriminate feeding incurs the wrath of the ever-protective Otto.

Otto’s next convert is the gorgeous Lucretia, whom he introduces to vampirism in an extremely passionate scene - as his old mortal desires get the better of him.

Together with her twin sister Venetia, Lucretia calls upon Damien one night. The purple-haired pair seduce the submissive lead singer in what must be one of the most bizarrely-erotic conversion scenes ever written.

Meanwhile, out in the land of mortals, all is not well. Goths are being picked upon by Commandos and rumours abound within the national press of strange dealings in vampirism and voodoo by the black-clad ones.

The Daily Tabloid’s reporter, Lorretta is instructed by her editor to cover the NightShades’ opening UK show and try for a scoop interview. Together with her photographer boyfriend, the pair become more and more determined to find out the truth behind Damien’s absence during the hours of daylight and his reluctance to be photographed.

But are the pair meddling in dark forces that are best left alone ...
